Take Ten for Play

Availiable from the end of April phone 01803 857656 now if you need it sooner

Take Ten More for Play now underpins both level 2 and level 3 qualifications in Playwork. If you are working towards a level 3 qualification you are recommended to access an additional four modules:

  1. Playwork Administration
  2. Multi-agency working
  3. Teamwork
  4. Managing Play Provision

With these additional modules, Take 10 MORE for Play builds directly on the first ten modules and recognises that acquiring knowledge, understanding and skills is a gradual, incremental process. The modules reinforce the additional responsibilities, knowledge and skills required for level 3 qualifications. A full level 3 qualification is equivalent to an A level grade and will help to provide access to Higher Education.

Throughout all the modules there are references to key books and information marked in the text with a subscript number, e.g.  to support extended and more in-depth learning. At the end of each module there is a ‘Further Reading’ list for those wishing to continue their studies. Some information particularly from government sources is changeable and best disseminated through the web so we have given the addresses of appropriate websites.

Overall we aim to support individual learners to progress at their own pace so that they can build on their enthusiasm and commitment to the profession.

The Playwork Principles

It should also be noted Take Ten for Play is underpinned by the Playwork Principles. The Playwork Principles establish the professional and ethical framework for playworkers. They explain what is unique about play and describe the playwork perspective for working with children and young people. The Principles re-affirm the importance of the knowledge and skills needed to create an environment that supports play, whilst re-affirming the vital importance of sensitive intervention and reflective practice.

Playwork National Occupational Standards

The Take Ten publications 2009 incorporate the revised National Occupational Standards for Playwork. These are the Standards which cover working with children in a play setting including holiday playschemes, out of school clubs, adventure playgrounds and mobile play projects. Play settings are used by children in their leisure time (out of school) and a Playwork qualification is the most appropriate for workers in these settings.

Take Ten More comes in 14 A4 modules of between 24 and 36 pages all contained in a plastic document box. A portfolio version could be available if there is a demand.
